ABOUT MARK
Thank you for visiting my page. As you’re here, the chances are that you are experiencing some difficulties in your life.
After going through a period of extreme stress in my own working life, I decided to become a counsellor. I believe that counselling offers positive help and solutions to life’s challenges, when things don’t seem to be going according to the plan you had or the way you wanted.
I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for 8 years at the time of writing. I have worked at Just Be and Talking Spaces, which are the mental health services offered by St. Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, offering pro bono services. In my time volunteering there (2017-2020), I was fortunate enough to gain a good deal of experience in helping people with a wide range of issues, but in particular trauma, bereavement, anxiety and stress.
Currently, I now work at Head Agenda in Leeds and I am a Franchisee Practitioner at the Oakdale Centre in Harrogate. I have also branched out into private practice, from which I am offering a caring, non-judgemental, sympathetic and empathetic service to all individuals who need help. I am currently practising in clinic in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, and offering counselling online via Teams if you prefer.
I use an integrative approach. I will be guided by you, the client, as to what you want to bring to the session and I am able to tailor my service to suit your specific needs. I employ a variety of therapies: CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Hypnotherapy, to help you make the changes that you want to make to your life and to rid you of any damaging learned behaviours that you may have acquired. The good news is that learned behaviours can be unlearned.
